Yates Center boys get one game in

CHERRYVALE — One’s better than none at this point in the baseball season.
Yates Center High’s Wildcats won a rain-shortened Tri-Valley League game Tuesday. The Wildcats beat host Cherryvale High’s Chargers 6-2 in six innings.
The second contest was rained out.
Yates Center led 2-0 when it scored six runs in the third to take control of the game. Ben Burk was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats. He gave up two hits, walked two and struck out 11.
Brent Matile hit a two-run home run in the third and had a single in the game. Michael Bettega tripled. Jordan Hughes had two singles.
Hitting a single each were Dalton Smith and Burk.
There was no report to the Register on the softball games between Yates Center and Cherryvale.
