Wolf leads IMS golf team at Indy

INDEPENDENCE — Iola Middle School’s golf team played in the Independence Middle School Invitational Wednesday. The Ponies finished in a tie for fifth.
Iola and the host team each combined for a team score of 222 for the nine-hole event.
Iola’s Hayden Wolf shot a 50 and earned the 10th-place individual medal. Weston Hines was one stroke back, 51, and Aaron Barclay carded a 53.
John Hutton finished with a 68. Justin Baker shot a 73 and Ben Myrick had an 83.
“We played well. We need to get one more score and we can finish higher,” said Dennis Nevin, Iola Middle School golf coach.
Jayhawk-Linn won the tournament with a 193. Anderson County was second with a 194 and Chanute had a 211 for third place. There were eight teams in the tournament.
The Ponies play at Chanute today.
