Wildcat tracksters place

PLESANTON — Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcat track athletes took advantage of the nice spring weather Tuesday. They placed well at the Pleasanton High Invitational track meet.
Zach Louk ran the 3200-meter run in 11 minutes, 2 .79 seconds for the silver medal. He took fourth in the 1600-meter run in 5:14.19.
Shawn Storrer captured the silver medal in the javelin with a throw of 142 feet, 3 inches.
For the Wildcat girls, Mercedes Trollope had a good day in the jumping pits. She was second in the long jump with a leap of 13’93⁄4” and teammate Lydia Lance was sixth at 12’101⁄4”.
Trollope took third in the triple jump at 29’7”.
Caitlin Isaac finished sixth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 1:04.36.
Isaac, Lance and Trollope combined with Christian Hartman for a sixth-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay in 1:01.01.
Kelsey Brantley placed sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:53.92. She was sixth in the 3200-meter run in 16:12.11.
The MVHS team also competed last Thursday at Frontenac’s meet before it was called because of bad weather.
At Frontenac, Louk claimed second in the boys’ high jump by clearing the bar at 5’8”. Louk was also fifth in the 1600-meter run in 5:28.68.
Kurtis LaRue placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 37’11⁄2”.
Mchael Hatfield was fifth in the javelin with a throw of 139’4”.
Next up for Marmaton Valley’s track teams is the Waverly Invitational at Burlington Monday.
