FRONTENAC — Marmaton Valley High’s baseball and softball teams played at Frontenac Thursday.
One game of the doubleheaders was completed for both softball and baseball.
Frontenac High’s Raiders defeated the Wildcat boys 5-0. Garret Ericson went the distance on the mound for Marmaton Valley.
Ericson allowed four hits, walked four and struck out seven.
He had the only hit of the game for the Wildcats — a single.
“We pitched very well again. Our pitching is the only part of our game that is consistent right now,” said Derek Scharff, MVHS baseball head coach.
“We have a week off so hopefully we can work on our bats and get them going.”
Marmaton Valley’s softball team dropped a 24-0 decision to Frontenac. The Wildcat girls had two hits — a triple by Jamee McEndree and a double by Jaclyn Biggs.
Shelby Norman pitched the four innings for the Wildcats. She allowed seven hits, walked four, hit three batters and struck out six.
“Shelby did her job on the mound. Our fielding errors contributed to Frontenac’s large score,” said Brenda Mills, MVHS softball head coach.
“Frontenac’s coaches did tell me after the game that our girls hit the ball best against their pitcher. We made contact and the girls stayed positive throughout the game.”
