Vikings knock off the Eagles

UNIONTOWN — Friday’s season-opening football game for Uniontown High was likely decided over the summer months, Eagle head coach Chad Rourk said.
Visiting Central Heights High knocked open a close game with 18 fourth-quarter points. The Vikings erased a 7-0 deficit in the process of the 30-7 win.
“Our lack of overall condition was key,” Rourk said. “They worked harder on their summer conditioning than we did.”
DuShaun Robinson put Uniontown on the scoreboard in the second quarter, picking off a Viking pass and racing three yards to the end zone.
But that was it as far as Eagle highlights.
Central Heights took the lead for good with a nine-yard touchdown run by J.D. Johnson in the third quarter. The Vikings scored three more times in the final quarter.
Jordan Woods led Uniontown with 69 yards on 10 carries. Matt Maloney and Zach Travis led the Eagle defense with nine and eight tackles, respectively. Robinson and Travis both had interceptions.
The Eagles travel to West Elk next Friday.
