Uniontown girls defeat Oswego

UNIONTOWN — Uniontown High’s Eagle softball team finally closed the door on a Three Rivers League doubleheader. It only took about a month to do so.
On April 9, the Eagle girls defeated visiting Oswego High’s Indians 12-1 in five innings. The teams played two scoreless innings of the second game before it was suspended because of rain.
Monday, the Eagle girls beat Oswego 5-1, scoring four runs in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie. Ithaca Marlier was the winning pitcher. She gave up five hits and had one strikeout.
Tiffany Poyner had two singles for the Eagles. Marlier doubled. Tayler Shook and Jessie Camac each singled.
The Eagles improved to 6-3 overall and 6-0 in league play.
Uniontown also won a junior varsity game 7-6. Julia Ayers and Rayma Ridge pitched for the Eagles.
Ayers had three singles and Jessica Harrison had two singles. Breanna Esslinger doubled. Hope Jurgensen and Megan Schnichels each had a single.
