Uniontown, Yates Center girl golfers compete

FREDONIA — Uniontown High’s Bethany Ericson and Emily Simpson shot personal-best scores for the season Thursday at the Fredonia High Invitational golf tournament.
Simpson and Ericson carded 55s for the nine-hole tournament, tying for 15th. Uniontown ended up fifth as a team with a 243.
“I was very pleased with how the girls played Thursday,’ said Jason Tourtillott, Eagle head coach. “Bethany and Emily have been more successful with the irons than the drivers.”
Brooke Murrow also had a personal-best score of 66 for the Eagles. Veronica Harrison shot a 67.
Raven Hixon shot a 73 and Sabrena McAnulty had an 80.
Caney Valley won the tournament with a 192 followed by Fredonia with a 200 and Chanute with a 211. Girard was fourth with 220.
Yates Center High’s Wildcats were 10th with a 280. Emily Baker led the Wildcats with a 60. Maggie German had a 69 followed by Margie Hartwig with a 72, Maggie Jennings with a 79 and Amber Jennings with an 81.
