Ten Titan athletes earn LCL honors

Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans finished in a three-way tie atop the 2009 Lyon County League volleyball standings. They also made the school’s first appearance in the Kansas Class 1A State Volleyball Tournament.
Four members of the Lady Titan volleyball team received 2009 Lyon County League honors. Lyon County League coaches named the all-league volleyball and football teams recently.
Seniors Shelby Birk and Kristen Garland were named to the All-LCL first team volleyball unit. Senior Laurie Ohl and junior Samantha Jacob collected honorable mention.
Six Titan football players were recognized by league coaches for 2009.
Ben Spencer, a 6-3 senior, was the named the All-Lyon County League quarterback. Senior Chyler Ludolph, 6-1, earned first team honors as a tight end.
Drew Parrish, 6-foot senior, was named to the second team as a running back. C. Ludolph also was named to the second team as a defensive end.
Garnering league honorable mention on offense were 5-8 senior guard Trevor Smith and 6-foot junior running back Travis Bryan.
