Simmons, Lamons, Green, Jesse Folk Jr. take race victories

HUMBOLDT — When it is a tight race to the end, there’s usually some contact between cars. That’s what happened in Friday’s $500-to-win factory stock special feature race at Humboldt Speedway.
Zack Simmons, Shawn Stroig and Scott Stuart were battling for the win. Simmons and Stroig were in front early as several lead changes occurred.
Stuart came through the field and gained the lead late, with Simmons and Stroig battling for second place.
After several restarts, Simmons got on Stuart’s bumper and stayed, then came the contact. Stuart’s car went over a tire in turn two and came back on the track in fifth place.
According to a report, there was no yellow flag out after Stuart went off the track and back on. Another lap and a half was run before a caution came out.
Simmons had the lead and took the win in the factory stock feature. Stuart came back to take second followed by Jeremy Wilson. Doug Scism ran fourth and Derrek Wilson was fifth.
Jay Lamons Jr. is showing he is tough to beat no matter what car he is driving. After his first car was totaled earlier this season, Lamons has a new car and drove to a B-Mod feature race victory Friday. Levi McGowen was second with Jimmie Davis turning in a third-place finish after crashing earlier in the race. Rick Aiello was fourth and Jerry Kustanborter finished fifth.
Johnny Green won the street stock feature. Nick Miller drove to second place followed by Eddie Fox, Dusty Marvin and Chance Knight.
Jesse Folk Jr. dominated the modified feature race. Dusty Campbell finished second followed by Brian McGowen, Justin Folk and John Allen.
This coming Friday at the Speedway is the annual pit crew challenge.
