Scotts nab feature wins

HUMBOLDT — Scott Daniels celebrated his 42nd birthday one day early Friday by winning the weekly modified feature at Humboldt Speedway.
Daniels vaulted to the front at the start of the feature and fended off a hard-charging Justin Folk for the victory. Folk, who started 10th, made his way to second by the finish. Jess Folk Jr. was third, Dennis Bishop was fourth and Rodney Sigg fifth.
Gary Gorby took the win in a special late models feature. Leslie Essary was second, Rusty Skaggs third, Shawn Brassfield fourth and Jack Simmons fifth.
Local race fans won’t have to wait long to see the late models again. They’ll return to Humboldt July 24.
Johnny Green, who had been racing in the now defunct street stock series, moved up the B-Mods and found himself in the winners cericle. Scott Collins was second, followed by Dalton Kirk, Jim Davis and Rick Aiello.
Scott Stuart bested the factory stock feature field, with the previous week’s feature winner Derek Wilson in second. Blake Davis was third, Chris Weldon fourth and Patrick Key fifth.
This Friday’s races will feature the introduction of “turf cars” to Humboldt Speedway.
