Even opposing players watch along with Josh Ward (12) as he hammers out his 12th home run of the season on Tuesday at home. Later in the second game against Neosho County Ward connected for No. 13.

Right now, players and coaches are wondering if they will be able to even get on Red Devil Field this weekend for the opening round of Region VI playoffs.
Allen County Community College hosts Seward County Community College for a best-of-three series. The games were moved back to Sunday because of the rain.
The Red Devils (33-15) and the Saints (32-20) are set for a 1 p.m. start time Sunday. The winner of the series moves into the Region VI double-elimination tournament, May 9-10, in Wichita.
Allen County will have its top two pitchers ready to go. Jake Hosey is 11-1 for the Red Devils and Brandon Faulkner is 7-3.
The Red Devils have a good supporting cast of pitchers also. Mark Thompson is 4-3 while David Ormiston is 3-3. Out of the bullpen are John Michael Moore, Zach Dodson, Danny Shearman, Ben Rister and Matthew Stalcup.
“Jake and Brandon have been the key for us this year. They’ve pitched very, very well,” said Val McLean, ACCC head coach. “We have players healthy again which is a big factor going into the playoffs.”
The Red Devils have hit the ball well, especially during their current 12-game winning streak. They have nine players hitting .315 or better.
Allen County only hit 26 home runs last season. The Red Devils have 38 home runs this season. Josh Ward leads with 13, followed by Dillon Hazlett with 11 and Seth Dutton with eight.
