Allen County Community College’s Christian Rodriguez (23) battles for the soccer ball in a game with Johnson County Commuinty College last week. The Red Devils defeated Independence Community College Friday at home.

Notching their first Jayhawk Conference win at home was good for Allen County Community College’s men. The Red Devils had lost a bit of a heartbreaker, 3-2, to Johnson County Community College last Tuesday.
The Red Devils used a five-goal game by sophomore Josh Hardy to defeat visiting Independence Community College’s Pirates Friday. Sophomores Zach Doolan and Daniel Okpare and freshman Taylor House had the other goals.
Doolan made two assists as did sophomore Lehi Ortega. Sophomore Phil Moore and freshman Christain Rodriguez each were credited with a goal assist.
“We played OK but still are trying to figure out how to be consistent,” said Doug Desmarteau, ACCC head coach.
Zach Hanks, sophomore goalkeeper, had six saves in the win.
Hanks was back in goal Sunday when ACCC played Neosho County Communtiy College at Chanute. The Panthers defeated the Red Devils 3-0. Hanks had six saves.
“We possessed the ball great for most of the game but had a problem getting the final ball to the net,” Desmarteau said. “Neosho scored three counter attack goals.”
Allen County is 1-2-1 in conference play and 2-4-1 overall. The Red Devils play at Cloud County Community College Wednesday in Concordia.
