ANDOVER — Play wasn’t as good as it was the first tournament but Terradyne Country Club golf course ups the difficulty a bit.
“All on the team had more difficulty with this course compared to the first conference tournament,” said Mike Hayes, Allen County Community College golf coach. “Terradyne is a tight, demanding course.”
Allen County’s Red Devils finished sixth in the nine-team field Tuesday. The Red Devils posted a team total of 685 or the 36-hole event.
Johnson County won the team title with a 611 followed by Hutchinson with a 616. Dodge City was third with a 626 followed by Coffeyville at 651 and Kansas City, Kan., at 665.
Hutchinson’s Dale Middleton carded a 148 to win the tournament’s top individual spot. Trevor Johanson of Johnson County was second with a 150.
Allen County’s Will Clark finished with a 161 (79-82) for the two-day event. He tied for 15th. Nick Agrew had a 167 (81-86).
Rob Carlson shot a 172 (83-89). Bryant Welch had a 185 (92-93) and Gavin Cole had a 190 (95-95).
“We were disappointed we did not play better. We weren’t able to practice very much last week because of the heavy rain and it showed,” Hayes said.
Allen County plays in the William Jewell Fall Invitational Monday. The tournament is at Cardinal Hill Golf Club in Liberty, Mo.
The Red Devils play their next Jayhawk Conference tournament Sept. 28 at Turkey Creek Golf Club in McPherson.
