Pony golf team places two in the medals

GARNETT — Iola Middle School’s Weston Hines and Hayden Wolf found themselves in contention for individual medals Wednesday at Anderson County Junior High’s golf tournament.
Hines shot a 43 and tied for third place. He lost on a scorecard playoff, taking the fifth-place medal. Wolf carded a 46, tying for seventh and won his scorecard playoff.
“It was another great day to play golf. And the kids played well,” said Dennis Nevin, IMS golf coach.
Iola finished fourth as a team at 213. Anderson County won the nine-hole tournament with a 188. Anderson County’s Jack Rickabaugh shot a 34 to win top medalist honor.
Iola’s Aaron Barclay and John Hutton each shot a 62. Joe Myrick carded a 63. April Stierwalt shot a 71.
The Pony golfers travel to Pittsburg Monday.
