COLUMBUS — Iola Middle School’s eighth-grade volleyball team had trouble with serve receive against host Columbus Tuesday.
“Too many volleyballs were hitting the floor against us. Our setters — Halie Cleaver and Mackenzie Weseloh — did a good job getting to the second ball to set it up but too many passes were going somewhere other than to the setter,” said Terri Carlin, IMS eighth-grade coach.
Columbus beat Iola’s A-team 25-10, 25-17.
Rebecca Cunningham had two kills and Karlie Lower had one kill for Iola. Cleaver served three aces and Weseloh had two set assists.
In the B-team match, Columbus defeated Iola 25-14, 25-17. Darci Collins had four serve aces for Iola and Alana Knavel had three service aces.
Amber Gerdsen delivered one kill. Credited with one service ace each were Mickey Ingle, Sydni Haen, Courtney Smith, Megan Smith and Danielle Ware.
The Register did not get a report on the seventh-grade volleyball matches at Columbus Tuesday.
