Mustangs play in SEK golf tourney

PITTSBURG — In the first Southeast Kansas League designated golf tournament, Iola High’s Mustangs had a rough go of it at the Pittsburg High Invitational.
On the Crestwood Country Club golf course Tuesday, the Mustangs finished sixth as a team with a 350. Chanute won the tournament with a 318 followed by Fort Scott with 326, Independence 337, Coffeyville 339 and Pittsburg 342.
Parsons placed seventh at 355. Labette County had a 385 for eighth and Columbus was ninth at 479.
Bryce Burris led the Mustangs with an 84 (40-44) finishing 12th. Seth Walden and Chase Ellis carded 88s. Walden had rounds of 38 and 50 and C. Ellis had rounds of 45 and 43.
Austin Ellis shot a 90 (45-45), Chris Harrington (46-50) and Alec Peterson (49-47) each had a 96.
