Mustang golf team competes

PARSONS — Trying to make up as much as possible, Southeast Kansas League golf teams competed in Thursday’s Parsons High Invitational golf tournament. The 18-hole event was originally scheduled for April 23.
The final regular season SEK designated tournament at Coffeyville has been moved back again. It was to have been today but will now be next Wednesday.
Golf teams play in regional competition Monday. Iola goes to Caney for a Class 4A regional.
Iola High’s Mustangs finished eighth in the nine-team field. The Mustangs had a four-man total of 405. Coffeyville won the tournament with a 327, one stroke ahead of Independence at 328.
Fort Scott’s Cole Murrin was the top medalist with a 76. Garret Webster of Independence was second medalist at 77.
Freshman Nick Jacobs had the lowest score for Iola with a 93 (43-50). Junior Alec Peterson shot a 97 (47-50) and Chris Harrington, also a junior, had a 106 (55-51).
Freshman Jarrett Mosbrucker shot a 109 (56-53) and freshman Doug Stewart shot a 114 (57-57). Freshman Kris Collins had a 119 (59-60).
