Mat Warriors wrestle in two tournaments

Allen County Kids Wrestling Club’s Mat Warriors were busy again last weekend. Five wrestlers competed in Saturday’s Linn County Open tournament in La Cygne,
Thirteen Allen County wrestlers took to the mats at Sunday’s Bulldog Brawl Baldwin Novice Tournament.
At Linn County, Lukas Rich was second in the 8-and-under 110-pound class and Dacoda Settlemyer took second in the 10-and-under 130-pound class. Also taking second was Michael Armstrong at 105 in 12-and-under division.
Dagen Goodner was fourth in 8-and-under 61 pounds. Stephen McDonald placed fourth in the 14-and-under 175-pound class.
In Baldwin, Kole Rogers and Jeremy Ridge earned gold medals in the 6-and-under division at 52 and 61 pounds. Logan Dillow was fourth at 55 pounds. Luke Yokum wrestled in the 6-and-under 49-pound class.
At 8-and-under, Isaac Vink was first in the 58-pound-A bracket while Mikey Saucedo was third in the 58-B bracket. Barry Porter placed third in the 64-pound class. Jewel Armstrong and Kane Rogers competed at 67 pounds and 70 pounds, respectively.
Quentin Sams placed second in the 10-and-under 120-pound class. Armstrong was first in the 12-and-under 105 weight class.
Allen County wrestlers are tuning up this week for their home tournament. The fifth-annual Allen County Mat Warrior Open is Sunday at Iola High School. Action begins at 9 a.m. in the IHS gym.
