Mat Warriors wrestle at district

Lukas Rich has an opponent wrapped up for a pin in a match at district kids wrestling tournament Saturday in Topeka. Rich and two other Allen County Kids Wrestling Mat Warriors qualified for the state tournament.

TOPEKA — Allen County Kids Wrestling Club’s Mat Warriors had five competing at the Kansas Kids District I wrestling tournament at Washburn University’s Lee Arena in Topeka.
Three wrestlers qualified for the Kansas Kids Wrestling State Tournament. The top four wrestlers in each weight class advance to state.
The state tournament is this coming weekend at Topeka’s Kansas Expocenter. On Saturday wrestling begins at 8:30 a.m and goes to 7 p.m. Sunday’s session begins at 8 a.m.
Lukas Rich claimed third place in the 8-and-under 110-pound class. Dacoda Settlemyer placed fourth in the 10-and-under 130-pound class.
Stephen McDonald was fourth in the 14-and-under 175-pound class.
Andrew Garber competed in the 10-and-under 130-pound class. Michael Armstrong wrestled in the 12-and-under 105-pound class.
