Mat Warriors medal in own tournament

Dagan Goodner of Allen County Kids has an opponent tied up working for a pin. Goodner took first in the 8-and-under 61-pound class in the Allen County Kids Mat Warrior Classic Sunday.

Allen County Kids Wrestling Club’s Mat Warriors held their Mat Warrior Classic Sunday.
There were more 400 kid wrestlers competing in the open tournament at Iola High School.
“We had a good day of wrestling for our club and overall,” said Stephanie McDonald, Mat Warrior club president.
“The tournament went smoothly and with that many kids competing, we were done with the tournament by 3:30.”
Allen County’s wrestlers collected 22 medals in 22 weight class brackets.
In the 6-and-under division, C.J. Shields claimed first in the 52-pound E bracket. Kole Rogers took third in the 52-pound A bracket.
Luke Yokum was third in the 49-pound E bracket. In the 55-pound B bracket, Logan Dillow was second. Jeremy Ridge was third at 61 pounds and Joseph Froggatte was third in the 73-80-pound class.
At 8-and-under, Dagen Goodner won the 61-pound B bracket and Lukas Rich was first in the 110-pound class.
Gavin Blakely placed second in the 55-pound C bracket and Bo Bigelow was second in the 55 B bracket. Isaac Vink and Mikey Saucedo placed third in their respective 58-pound brackets.

Barry Porter took fourth in the 64-pound B bracket. Jewel Armstrong was third at 67-pound C bracket. Kane Rogers finished second in the 70-pound A bracket and Nic Zimmerman was fourth in the 88-pound A bracket.
In 10-and-under, Quentin Sams was first in the 110-pound class. Dacoda Settlemyer and Andrew Garber went second and third in the 130-pound bracket. Hannah Froggatte placed third in the 76-pound D bracket.
Michael Armstrong placed third in the 12-and-under 100-105-pound A bracket. Stephen McDonald won the 14-and-under 175-205-pound bracket.
