Marmaton Valley boys lose to Oswego

OSWEGO — Marmaton Valley High’s boys won’t have much time to fret over their loss Thursday at Oswego High.
Rather, head coach Jeremy Boldra hopes his team has learned from the experience, which ended the regular season for the Wildcats.
That’s because Marmaton Valley must return to Oswego Monday to face this same Indian squad to open the Class 2A substate.
If the Wildcats are to have a chance, they’ll have to eliminate turnovers, Boldra said.
“We turned the ball over way too many times,” he said. “It wasn’t really their press that bothered us. It was that we got into a hurry, and we took ill-advised shots. We didn’t get the ball inside like we should have.”
Oswego broke open a close game with an 18-8 second quarter run, followed by a 12-5 spurt that spanned the third quarter.
Ethan Ericson led the Wildcats with 11 points. Tom Stinnett followed with 11.
Stuart Keener led Oswego with 14 points, followed by Lane Martin with 13.
“It never hurts to play a team like this in the regular season,” Boldra said. “Hopefully, we can learn from it.”
Marmaton Valley High girls finished 0-20 with a 47-13 loss at Oswego Thursday. No details of the game were reported to the Register.
