Marmaton Valley Jr. High girls split games

PLEASANTON — Free throws made the difference in Marmaton Valley Junior High girls’ heartbreaker of a loss Monday night.
The Wildcats tied the game at 14-14 on two free throws. Pleasanton Junior High’s Blu-Jays went for the winning shot.
“We fouled the shooter and she made both free throws with seven seconds left,” said Brenda Mills, MVJH girls’ head coach.
“We got the ball in and down the court, fired up a nice shot that came close. It was a hard fought game by both teams.”
The Wildcat A-team dropped to 1-2 on the season.
Hannah Endicott fired in six points. Kaitlin Ensminger added four points. Scoring two points each were Emily Meiwes and Ashtynn Louk.
The Wildcat B-team improved to 2-1 with a 13-8 win over host Pleasanton. The game was 6-6 at halftime and Marmaton Valley took the lead 10-6 after three quarters.
Cheyenne English scored five points for the Cats. Samantha Root had four points. Tessa Olson and Mackenzie Tynon each added two points.
