Marmaton Valley, Crest
play in junior high tournament

UNIONTOWN — Marmaton Valley Junior High and Crest Middle School’s volleyball teams competed in Saturday’s Uniontown Middle School tournament.
The MVJH Wildcats came out with second-place team medals. Marmaton Valley went 1-2 and claimed second on percentage points.
Crest was third, going 1-2 also.
Crest beat Marmaton Valley 20-15, 20-14. Marmaton Valley bounced back to defeat Uniontown No. 2 20-16, 16-20, 15-11 then lost 20-6, 20-12 to Uniontown No. 1.
Marmaton Valley’s serving points for the tournament were spread out. Emily Meiwes, Kaitlin Ensminger and Hannah Endicott each served for 11 points.
Kaysha Elmenhorst had eight points at the service line. Tapanga Turner had six points and Cheyenne English served for four.
After beating Marmaton Valley, Crest lost 20-12, 20-8 to Uniontown No. 1. Uniontown No. 2 defeated Crest 18-20, 20-8, 16-14.
“Lyndia Bradshaw and Krystal Cooper did an excellent job serving,” said Crest coach Brenna Hammond. “Lyndia served 25 of 25 with one ace and Krystal was 22 of 26 with three ace serves.”
