MVJH volleyball team wins, football team loses

PLEASANTON — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s volleyball team collected wins on the road. The MVJH football team dropped a heartbreaker in overtime to host Pleasanton Thursday.
Marmaton Valley’s A-team rallied to win the last two sets for a 23-25, 25-23, 25-22 victory over Pleasanton. Kaitlin Ensminger served for 13 points and Cheyenne English had 10 service points. Hannah Endicott and Tapanga Turner had six service points each and Kaysha Elmenhorst served two points.
The Wildcat B-team won 25-8, 23-25, 25-21. Elmenhorst served for 13 points and Shauna Knight had 10 service points. Jocelyn Miller served seven and Tessa Olson had six points. MaKenzie Harrison served five points and Emily Boyd had four points and English had one service point.
On the Pleasanton football field, both the Wildcats and Blu-Jays scored a touchdown each in the first quarter and the fourth quarter. Marmaton Valley’s came on a 57-yard run by Nick Trollope early, then Chance Stevenson scored on a two-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The teams were tied 12-12 at the end of regulation. Pleasanton held Marmaton Valley in the overtime and scored the winning touchdown.
Trollope had 162 yards on 15 carries and had nine tackles and an interception on defense for the Cats. Michael Swift also had an interception and six tackles. David Harris had six tackles and Seth Cuppy had five tackles. Michael Genn had a fumble recovery.
