MVHS girls lose to Lyndon

MORAN — Marmaton Valley High’s girls ended the home portion of their schedule with an all-too-familiar trend.
The Wildcats trailed by 10 points after one quarter, enough of a deficit to prevent the team from coming back in a 46-27 loss to Lyndon High.
“They got started and we didn’t,” Wildcat head coach Kent Houk said. “We had a few kids sick tonight, and we started off sluggish. That’s been our story a lot.”
The Tigers led 14-4 after one quarter and 27-11 at halftime.
The Wildcats battled evenly throughout the second half but could not threaten the lead. Lyndon led 35-18 after three quarters.
Morgan Henry scored 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Wildcats. Maggie Meiwes added seven points, while Cheyanne Miller had two steals and two assists. Kenna McWhirter also had two assists. Mercedes Trollope chipped in with two steals.
Emilee Burkett led the Tigers with 13 points. Malori Gales added 10.
Marmaton Valley wraps up the regular season Thursday at Oswego. Class 2A postseason play begins next week.
