Lady Titans deck Jays

PLEASANTON — When the offense stalls for awhile, defense can make a difference.
Tuesday night when shots weren’t falling early for fifth-ranked Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans, they were solid on defense. Pleasanton High’s Blu-Jays led the Lady Titans 12-11 after one quarter.
Then it was all Lady Titans. Southern Coffey County outscored their host 49-20 over the final three quarters for a 60-32 win.
With starter Samantha Jacob out with the flu, Ashton Isch made her first start for SCCH. She responded with 14 points and five rebounds.
Kristin Stephens also had 14 points and five rebounds. Kristen Garland tossed in 14 points. Shelby Birk had seven steals and five assists.
Rachel Richmond scored 11 points for Pleasanton.
In junior varsity play, Southern Coffey County won 40-11 led by Kandace Shields with 11 points.
Southern Coffey County High’s girls improved to 17-2 overall. They will have the top seed in next week’s 1A regional tournament.
Southern Coffey County High’s boys defeated Pleasanton 47-41. No details on the game were reported to the Register.
The Titan teams wrap up regular season play Friday at Lebo.
