Lady Lancers win TRL track title

Crest High’s Lady Lancers are Three Rivers League track champions.
The Lady Lancers collected the TRL girls’ team track title with 130 points in a tight race with Oswego, which had 127 points. Crest hosted the 2009 TRL track meet Thursday at Iola’s Riverside Park.
Uniontown girls finished third with 115 points. Marmaton Valley was fourth with 78 points.
Pleasanton High’s boys dominated their TRL division with 184 points. Crest High’s Lancers made a run at the top spot but settled for second with 156 points. Uniontown was fourth with 72 points and Marmaton Valley tied for fifth.
Ashley Catt defended her TRL 1600-meter run championship. She won the race in 6 minutes, 11.86 seconds.
Amanda Strickler posted a TRL championship in the javelin with a throw of 103 feet, 8 inches. Teammates Cassie Smith, 97’2”, and Caitlin Golden, 92’4”, were third and fifth in the event.
Catt, A. Strickler and Golden combined with Italy Loving to win the gold medal in the 4x800-meter relay race. Their time was 12:35.
Katrina Strickler finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 27’111⁄2”. She was fifth in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 13’91⁄2”. Smith and Golden were seventh and eighth in the long jump.
Amber Tinsley took fourth in the shot put with a throw of 28’9”. A. Strickler placed fourth in the discus at 92’1” and Tinsley was fifth at 89’1”.
The Lady Lancers’ 4x400-meter relay team of K. Strickler, A. Strickler, Shayla Stephens and Golden was third in 1:02.76. The 4x100-meter relay team of Loving, K. Strickler, Sadie Davis-Jones and Stephens placed third in 1:02.76.
In the 3200-meter run, Loving was the silver medalist with a time of 14:18.14, with Catt in third at 14:29 and Davis-Jones in fifth at 16:19.
Loving finished second in the 800-meter run in 2:50.96, while Tinsley ran fifth. Stephens was sixth in the 100-meter dash in 14.72 seconds and seventh in the 200 meters in 30.97 seconds.
Davis-Jones placed third in the 100-meter high hurdles in 19.78 seconds. She was fourth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 1:07.9.

THE LANCERS set a CHS school record in winning the 4x100-meter relay race. The TRL champion foursome of Todd Johnston, Tanner Strickler, Bryan Newton and Brandon Newton posted a winning time of 44.93 seconds. The former CHS top time in the event was 45.5 seconds in 1981.
The Lancers’ 4x400-meter relay team defended its TRL championship. Johnston, Strickler, Brandon Newton and Micah Smith combined for a winning time of 3:40.03.
Also defending his league championship was Brandon Newton. He won the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.15 seconds.
Brandon Newton ran second in the 200-meter dash in 24.07 seconds and Smith was seventh in 25.54 seconds. Smith placed sixth in the 100-meter dash in 12.26 seconds.
Tanner Strickler captured the gold medal in the 400-meter dash in a personal-best time of 53.02 seconds. Dakota Ramsey was sixth in the race in 1:01.12 and Thomas Dietrich was eighth at 1:02.72.
Ramsey is the TRL javelin champion with a personal-best throw of 152 feet. Dietrich was fourth at 123’1”. Jayden Bowen was sixth at 108’91⁄4”.
Ramsey placed fourth in the discus at 111’2” and Jake Tinsley was fifth at 110’1”. C.J. Cole placed seventh in the shot put at 36’3”.
T. Strickler was second in the triple jump with a leap of 37’31⁄2”. Bryan Newton was third at 35’73⁄4” and Bowen was sixth at 30 feet.
Johnston took third in the long jump at 18’91⁄4”. Bryan Newton was seventh at 17’31⁄2”. He also was third in the high jump at 5’6”. Johnston finished second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 44.29 seconds.
Bowen ran fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:40.15 and Anthony Ellis was sixth in 2:47.59.
Dustin Davis-Jones was third in the 1600-meter run in 5:20.25.
Trevor Holman was fifth in 5:24 and Ellis was seventh in 6:09. Davis-Jones placed third in the 3200-meter run in 11:15, with Holman in fifth at 12:07 and Ellis in seventh at 14:51.
The Lancers’ 4x800-meter relay team of Ramsey, Dietrich, Davis-Jones and Holman turned in a silver-medal time of 9:44.09.
