Lady Cubs cruise past Red Devils

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt High’s Lady Cubs powered their way to two victories at home Friday. They notched wins of 16-1 and 12-2 over visiting Erie High’s Red Devils in non-league action.
Lenzie Boring tossed her second no-hitter of the season in the opener, winning 16-1. Boring didn’t issue any walks and she struck out nine batters in four innings of work.
The Lady Cubs led 7-1 after three innings. They produced nine runs in the fourth to close out the game on a run-rule.
Callie Umholtz hit two doubles and a single as she drove in four runs. Kylle Carson had four RBIs with two singles. Kelci Owens had three singles and Boring hit a single and a double.
Melissa Davidson and Rachel Green each had two singles. Having a base hit each were Megan Dillow, Bailey Myers and Hannah McCall.
Davidson was the winning pitcher in the second game. Davidson only had to go five innings because the Lady Cubs run-ruled the Red Devils. She allowed four hits, walked three and struck out five.
Humboldt led 6-2 when it plated six runs in the fifth to end the game.
Boring connected for a triple and two singles and Umholtz had a double and two base hits. Dillow hit two singles. Myers and McCall each had a single.
Humboldt (4-0) was to have played at Burlington in Tri-Valley League action Monday. That doubleheader was moved to this afternoon at Burlington.
