Lady Titans claim win in regular season finale

LEBO — Southern Coffey County High’s girls used clutch free throw shooting and a key contribution from sophomore reserve Kristin Stephens.
Stephens scored 13 of her team-high 17 points in the second quarter as the Lady Titans turned an 11-10 deficit to host Lebo High into a 27-17 lead.
Then the Titans hit 13 of 19 free throws in the second half of a 56-47 win.
The victory wraps up regular season play for the Lady Titans (18-2). Southern Coffey County is the top seed and has a first-round bye in next week’s Class 1A Regional Playoffs.
The Lady Titans play Thursday at Allen County Community College against the winner of Crest and Altoona-Midway. Those two teams face off Monday evening.
“I was pleased with our defensive intensity,” Lady Titan head coach Jeff True said. “We didn’t shoot the ball well from outside but were able to get it inside.”
Laurie Ohl added 14 points for the Lady Titans. Shelby Birk chipped in with 13.
Lauren Schlesener’s 15 points led Lebo. Chelsie Eagleburger added 12 and Deidra Jones had 10.
