Kansas Boater Education course set for July 10-11

PARSONS — A Kansas Boater Education course will be July 10-11 in Parsons. Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks game wardens are instructors.
Kansas state law requires any person born on or after Jan. 1, 1989, to complete an approved boating safety education course in order to operate any boat on public Kansas waters.
The course is free. Students will take the classroom portion of the course on Friday at Arvon Phillips Recreation Center in Parsons from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
On Saturday, students will meet at Big Hill Reservoir’s Mound Valley boat ramp at 8 a.m. Instruction will consist of field activities and learning about various boat types, their uses, operation and maintenance.
Saturday’s activities conclude at 1 p.m.
