Area high school basketball teams are assigned

Basketball and wrestling postseason assignments have been set for Kansas high school teams in 2010.
The basketball substate tournaments are March 1-6.
Iola High’s Fillies and Mustangs are in the Class 4A substate hosted by Labette County High School in Altamont. Also in the tournament are Chanute, Coffeyville, Columbus, Girard, Independence and Parsons.
Humboldt, Marmaton Valley and Uniontown are in the Class 2A substate tournament hosted by Oswego.
Also in the substate are West Elk, Jayhawk-Linn, Pittsburg St. Mary’s-Colgan and Sedan.
Class 1A regional basketball tournaments are Feb. 22-27. Crest and Southern Coffey County are in the regional hosted by Pleasanton, along with Hartford, Marais Des Cygnes Valley and Waverly.
Yates Center is hosting a Class 1A regional basketball tournament. Joining the host team are Altoona-Midway, Chetopa, Elk Valley, Flint Hills and St. Paul.
The top two teams, both girls and boys, from the 1A regionals advance to 1A substate tournaments March 4-6.
Substate winning teams advance to respective state tournaments March 10-13. The 4A state tournaments are in Salina, 2A tournaments are in Manhattan and 1A tournaments are in Hays.
Iola High’s Mustang wrestlers are assigned to the Kansas Class 4A Regional Wrestling Tournament at Chanute Feb. 19-20. Joining Iola and Chanute will be Labette County, Augusta, Coffeyville, Columbus, El Dorado, Fort Scott, Anderson County, Independence, Prairie View, Mulvane, Parsons, Rose Hill and Circle.
The top four in each of the 14 weight classes advance to the Kansas Class 4A State Tournament Feb. 26-27 in Salina.
