IMS seventh grade plays

COLUMBUS — Iola Middle School’s seventh-grade volleyball team had a split decision on the road Tuesday.
The Pony A-team lost 25-17, 13-25, 15-8 to host Columbus. Haley Slater served eight points in Iola’s win in the second set and Emma Piazza had four straight points. Caressa Lowell and Torrie Lewis were credited for their defensive play.
“The girls showed what they could do in that second set. They were talking well and working as a team. It was disappointing that they didn’t carry that over into the last set,” said Muffy Fehr, IMS seventh-grade coach.
The Pony B-team collected a 25-14, 15-4 victory. Shelby Reno had four service aces and Torrie Maley served well also, according to Fehr. Coach Fehr also said Jo Lohman played well defensively.
