IHS JV track teams compete

CHANUTE — Iola High’s junior varsity track teams finished third in their respective divisions at Tuesday’s Chanute High JV Invitational.
The Fillies went 1-2 in the javelin and 1-2 in the discus. Kirstin McGuffin won the javelin with a throw of 96 feet, 2 inches and Ty Ellis was second at 87’7”.
Katlyn Cleaver was a double gold-medal winner. Cleaver took the discus with a throw of 93’10 and McGuffin was second at 83’5”. Cleaver won the shot put with a toss of 30’1 1/4”.
Kendra Taiclet was the gold-medal winner in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 53.5 seconds. Carly Mulsow was fourth in the race at 1:00.
Taiclet took the silver in the 100-meter dash, 13.7 seconds, and in the 200-meter dash, 29.3 seconds.
Ellis placed fourth in the 100-meter high hurdles in 19.3 seconds. Mulsow was sixth in 20.1 seconds.
Jennica Rausch finished fifth in the 800-meter run in 3 minutes, 4.6 seconds.
Ralph Shafer led a 1-2-3 finish by the Mustangs in the javelin. Shafer won the event with a throw of 138’3” followed by Dylan Allen at 132’8” and Kyle Heffern at 124’11”.
The Mustang 4x800-meter relay team of Eli Johns, Christian Kauth, Dustin Jones and Seth Kristalyn posted a winning time of 9:30.8.
Johns took second in the 800-meter run in 2:18.7. Nate Pope was the silver medalist in the 1600-meter run in 5:09.8 plus he took the bronze in the 3200-meter run in 11:03.9.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Mikal Bossell, Johns, Jones and Kauth was third in 3:58.4.
Heffern took the bronze medal in the discus with a throw of 110’8”. Josh Butler was fourth in the shot put at 37’0”.
Kauth was fourth in the triple jump at 35’4” and Bossell was fifth at 30’10”. Drew Shepherd took fifth in the high jump at 5’0”.
