Humboldt Speedway crowns point champs

HUMBOLDT — Paden Phillips, Scott Stuart and Justin Folk captured the 2009 Humboldt Speedway point champions for the track’s three racing divisions.
After a week’s worth of rain, the Speedway track was good to go last Friday for the season finale.
Phillips, a senior at Chanute High School, had perfect attendance for the 23 points races for the B-Mod class. Also with perfect attendance for 21 races for the modified class was Folk.
Scott Stuart, Independence, missed only one race all season. He won enough feature races to claim the factory stock championship.
On the final night of racing, Jeremy Wilson won the factory stock feature with Stuart in second. Tim Phillips took third followed by Patrick Kay and Matt Weintz.
Jay Lamons Jr. had to re-take the lead from points champion Paden Phillips to win the B-mod feature. Jimmy Davis ran third followed by Justin Boots and Jerry Kustanborter.
In modified action, motor problems sidelined early-race leader Ryan Whitworth as John Allen drove to victory. Rodney Sigg made a run at Allen but settled for second. Scott Daniels placed third followed by Gerald Folk and Jesse Folk Jr.
Karla Boots won the B-Mod powder puff race and Ravyn Whitworth was second. Cissie Constuble won the factory stock powder puff race.
The Speedway will hold the Biblesta Blowout Oct. 2-3.
