Freshman Fillies play at home in tournament

Iola High’s freshmen hosted a freshman/C-team tournament Saturday. The teams played under a different format because illness kept one team away from the competition.
Each match consisted of two sets (games) only. So there could be a split of sets. Winning percentage of sets played determined the top teams of the tournament.
The freshman Fillies went 2-8 against five teams.
“We started the day out a bit sluggish. We haven't’ played in almost two weeks,” said Casey Greenwood, IHS assistant coach. “But now, we’ll be ready for Tuesday’s home matches.
“We ended the day on a good note — swinging away and going all out against Paola.”
Iola defeated Marmaton Valley 25-22 and lost to the Wildcats 25-20. The Fillies also split with Uniontown, losing 25-20 and winning 27-25.
Iola lost to Burlington Red 25-11, 25-13 and lost to Burlington Gray 25-15, 29-27. Iola finished with a 25-4, 25-15 loss to Paola.
There were no reports made to the Register from Marmaton Valley or Uniontown from tournament play.
For Iola against Marmaton Valley, Tessa Rowe and Alyssa Zimmerman each served 10 points while Breanna Stout had nine service points, four coming on aces, and one kill. Alexa Fawson served nine points, had one ace serve and downed two kills. Chanel Coyne served five points and had one kill and Katie Thompson had four service points. Reagan Ford had a kill.
In the Uniontown match, Rowe served up 10 points and had one ace while Stout had nine service points and two kills. Thompson served up eight points and Fawson had eight service points, two aces and four kills. Zimmerman had six service points. Ford and Coyne each had two service points.
Thompson served up nine points for Iola against Burlington Red. Zimmerman had four service points and Stout had three. Fawson had three kills and two service points. Rowe and Ford had two service points and Coyne had one point.
Fawson delivered five kills, had four service aces among her nine points. Stout served nine points and had an ace and Thompson had eight service points, one ace and three kills. Zimmerman and Rowe each had five service points and Ford and Coyne each had three points.
Against Paola, Zimmerman served five points and Thompson four. With three service points each were Stout, Coyne and Ford. Fawson had one point.
