Fillies, Mustangs earn No. 3 seeds in regionals

Iola High’s Fillies and Mustangs go into Kansas Class 4A regional softball and baseball tournaments as the No. 3 seeds next week.
The Fillies (11-3) are in the 4A regional softball tournament hosted by Anderson County High School in Garnett. All games Monday and Tuesday will be played at Garnett’s Sports Complex.
Paola (16-2) is the top seed in the regional tournament. Fort Scott (11-2) is the No. 2 seed.
The Fillies play No. 6 seeded Chanute (6-9) at 4:45 p.m. Monday on Field A. Fort Scott takes on seventh-seeded Anderson County (7-12) at 6:30 p.m.
Winners of those two games play at 4:45 p.m. in Tuesday’s semifinals.
Prairie View (11-8) is seeded fourth and plays fifth-seeded Louisburg (8-10) at 4:45 p.m. Monday on Field B. Paola plays No. 8 seeded Osawatomie (4-13) at 6:30 p.m.
Winners of those two games play at 3 p.m. in Tuesday’s semifinals.
The regional championship game is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The tournament winner advances to the Kansas Class 4A Softball Tournament May 29-30 in Salina.
The Mustangs (10-6) are in the 4A regional baseball tournament hosted by Fort Scott High School. Games will be played on the Fort Scott Community College ball fields.
Prairie View (16-3) is the top seed in the regional tournament. Osawatomie (13-5) is seeded No. 2.
Iola plays No. 6 seeded Louisburg (6-14) at 7 p.m. Monday on Ty Cullor Field. Osawatomie plays Anderson County (4-15), seeded No. 7, at 4:30 p.m. Monday on the same field.
The winners of those games play at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on Lions Field in the semifinals.
Paola (8-10) is seeded fourth and plays fifth-seeded Chanute (6-9) at 4:30 p.m. Monday on Lions Field. Prairie View faces No. 8 seeded Fort Scott (2-12) at 7 p.m. Monday on Lions Field.
The winners of those games play in the 2 p.m. semifinal Tuesday on Lions Field.
The regional championship game is at 7 p.m. Tuesday on Lions Field. The tournament champion advances to the Kansas Class 4A Baseball Tournament May 29-30 in Salina.
