Fillies’ JV plays tennis

PARSONS — It was the first junior varsity action for Iola High’s Fillies because of rain-outs. The Fillies had wins in each of the divisions they played in at Parsons High’s junior varsity meet Tuesday.
Autumn Snesrud went 1-4 in No. 1 singles for Iola. Her win was a 6-4 decision over Fort Scott’s Krista Hightower. She had lost 6-2 to Marlina Kipp of Parsons to start, then lost 6-2 to Ericka Springer of Pittsburg.
Autumn Snesrud lost a tough 6-4 decision in a tiebreaker, 7-4, against Stephanie Hinman of Labette County. Labette County’s Amanda Clapp beat Autumn Snesrud 6-2.
In No. 1 doubles, Ty Ellis and Amber Snesrud went 2-3. They got a 6-4 win over Hanna Messer and Sammi Carr of Fort Scott and beat Alisha Vitt and Kaitlyn Phillips of Labette County 6-3.
Ellis and Amber Snesrud lost 6-2 to Jessica Nickelson and Samantha Fletcher of Parsons and to Labette County’s Kaitlyn Woolfolk and Kelsey Baker. Pittsburg’s Kacee Sinclair and Jessica Curlee defeated Ellis and Amber Snesrud 6-1.
Iola’s No. 2 doubles team of Katana Smith and Abbey St. Clair also won two and lost three. The opened with a 6-2 win over Heather Ward and Karleigh Wells of Labette County. Later they beat Alivia Broadway and Jenna Bogner of Labette County 6-4.
Smith and St. Clair lost 6-1 to Fort Scott’s Bailee Hall and Corina Harrison and dropped a 6-4 decision to Pittsburg’s September Perkins and Nicole Handshy.
Labette County’s Tiffani Sexton and Sarah Nading beat Iola’s Smith and St. Clair 6-2.
