Fillies’ JV is third

FORT SCOTT — Iola High’s junior varsity volleyball team went 2-2 at the Fort Scott High Junior Varsity Invitational Saturday.
That got the Fillies third place in the event.
Iola defeated Independence 25-16, 25-20. Kirstin McGuffin served up 11 points, four off ace serves, and had two kills. Toni Taylor served for eight points, had one ace and three kills.
Tori Snavely, who did not have an error in 68 sets for the day, served six points. Kelsey Adams had four service points, one ace and one kill. Carly Mulsow had one point on an ace and three kills. Riana Dolenz had one service point and one kill.
Mulsow was 22 of 23 at the service line in a 25-6, 25-17 Iola win over Coffeyville. She had 22 service points, six aces, plus downed two kills. Adams served four points, one ace and three kills. Snavely had four points and one ace. Taylor had three points and one kill, Dolenz had two points and four kills and McGuffin had four kills.
Iola lost 25-11, 25-23 to Shawnee Mission West. McGuffin had four points, one ace and four kills. Snavely had four points and one ace. Dolenz had three points and one kills while Taylor served two points and had one kill. Mulsow had one kill.
Labette County defeated Iola 25-14, 23-25, 15-10. Adams served up 11 points and one ace and Taylor had six points, one ace and four kills. Snavely served four points. McGuffin had four points and one kill. Dolenz served four points and had two kills. Mulsow had one point and two kills.
IHS assistant coach Chrissy Powell said she was pleased with the way the team played in in the two losses.
