Eagle teams lose to Central Heights squads

RICHMOND — Uniontown High’s Eagle girls played a varsity and a junior varsity softball game Friday against host Central Heights High’s Lady Vikings. The Eagle boys played a single varsity contest.
The Lady Vikings won the varsity outing 7-0. The Eagles were held to two hits — a double by Tayler Shook and a single by Jesse Camac. Shook was the losing pitcher, giving up four hits, walking five, hitting five batters and striking out four.
“Both of the hits occurred in the first inning and after that we were not able to put the ball in play,” said Alan Shinn, Eagle head coach. “Defensively, we made some mistakes at key times during the ball game.”
In the junior varsity contest, Uniontown claimed a 9-5 win. Ithaca Marlier was the winning pitcher as she allowed five hits, walked two and struck out four.
Hits for the Eagle JV were: two singles each for Julia Ayers, Megan Schnichels and Sabrena McAnulty and one single each for Jessica Murrow, Jessica Harrison and Breanna Esslinger.
Uniontown’s boys got run-ruled in three innings, losing 16-1. Jake Dawson, DuShaun Robinson and Anthony Myers pitched for the Eagles. They allowed 14 hits; the Eagle defense had 11 errors.
Uniontown had two hits, both singles, by Ty Clayton and Ethan Hammond.
Uniontown’s teams are scheduled to host Altoona-Midway Thursday and Lyndon on Friday.
