RIVERTON — Uniontown High’s Eagles did not lose a set in three matches Thursday. The Eagles won three non-league matches on the road at Riverton.
“The team played well and I do mean team. Everyone contributed,” said Jackie Hall, Uniontown head coach.
“Our hitters had an outstanding night as our passers were getting the ball to our setter, Taylor Shook, so she could make good choices at the net.”
Uniontown opened with a 25-14, 25-7 win over Columbus. Shook served for 12 points and Jacy Ermel had 11 service points as both had three ace serves. Abbie Smith smashed down 14 kills and Jessie Camac had seven kills.
The Eagles defeated Riverton 25-15, 25-21. Hall said the Eagles kept attacking the ball and took Riverton out of its game. She said the Lady Rams started tipping the ball at the net and “we adjusted and did a good job defending that.”
Camac served for nine points against Riverton. Ermel and Smith each had nine kills and Jessica Schaaf downed four kills.
Uniontown beat Galena 25-8, 25-10 led by Ermel with 14 service points, five ace serves and eight kills at the net. Camac served 13 points and had four ace serves. Smith delivered nine kills and Schaaf had seven kills.
Hall pointed to the back row play of Tiffany Poyner, Candice Clayton and Jessica Murrow plus Jessica Harrison made some “timely blocks for us.”
The Uniontown varsity plays at St. Paul next Thursday. The UHS freshmen play in Iola’s tournament Saturday.
