Eagles beat Wildcats

YATES CENTER — Finishing regular season play Thursday, Uniontown High’s Eagle girls swept a non-league doubleheader on the road.
The Eagles improved to 9-6 overall by defeating host Yates Center High’s Wildcats 9-1 and 18-11.
Tayler Shook was the winning pitcher in the first game. She allowed six hits, walked one and struck out three.
For the Eagles’ offensively, Jessie Camac had two doubles and a single and Rayma Ridge had a double and a single. Hitting two singles each were Candice Clayton, Heather Schnichels and Hope Jurgensen.
Audrey Dixon, Cassie Schwalm and Tiffany Poyner had a single apiece.
In the second game, Uniontown was up 13-1 after 4 1/2 innings. Yates Center scored nine runs in the fifth to close the gap. The Eagles added three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Ithaca Marlier was the winning pitcher for the Eagles, allowing 19 hits, walking one and striking out two.
Camac had a home run and a single for the Eagles. and Jessica Harris had three singles. Clayton and Jurgensen each had two singles. Hitting a single each were Julia Ayers, Shook, Ridge, Breanna Esslinger, Marlier, Schwalm and Poyner.
