Eagle girl golfers win

GIRARD — Uniontown High’s Eagle girls won the Girard High “Rookies” golf tournament Friday.
Uniontown High head coach Jason Tourtillott said the Eagles qualified for the tournament since most of girls on the team are second-year golfers.
Uniontown combined for a 259 team score. Girard Red was second at 300 and Girard White was third at 307.
No team medals were awarded. Medals to the top five individuals were given.
Uniontown’s Bethany Ericson shot a 58 for the nine-hole event, taking second. Emily Simpson had a 61 for fourth.
Veronica Harrison tied for seventh with a 67. Brooke Murrow was 10th at 73. Raven Hixon shot a 77 and Sabrena McAnulty had a 79.
“Bethany, Emily and Veronica all had personal best scores for this season,” Tourtillott said. “Brooke and Sabrena continue to get a little better. They are just having difficulty stringing good shots together.”
