Eagle boys lose to Vikings

UNIONTOWN — Uniontown High’s Eagle boys found themselves down by 20 points in the second half of Friday night’s regular season and home finale.
The Eagles chipped away to get to within one point of the visiting Vikings from Central Heights High. But never got the lead and the Eagles lost 65-58.
The Eagles trailed the Vikings 16-15 after one quarter. Central Heights went into halftime with a 32-26 advantage.
The Vikings outscored the Eagles 22-14 in the third quarter. Uniontown had an 18-11 scoring edge in the final eight minutes.
Drew Johnson led the way for the Eagles with 17 points. Travis Aikins tossed in 12 and Cody Tinsley had 10.
The Vikings got 16 points from Jordan Welch, 13 each from Adam Horstick and Russell Hampton and 12 points from Cody Sluder.
The Eagles (9-11) play Pittsburg-Colgan Monday in the first round of 2A substate tournament action.
