Eagle, Wildcat baseball, softball players receive TRL honors

Fifteen area athletes received postseason honors by Three Rivers League coaches in softball and baseball for 2009.
Named to the All-Three Rivers League baseball first team were Marmaton Valley High seniors Ben Biggs and Tom Stinnett and junior Ethan Ericson. Uniontown High’s Tyler Hall, a sophomore, was named to the first team.
Receiving honorable mention were Uniontown’s senior Ethan Hammond, sophomore Ty Clayton and freshman Jordan Woods.
Uniontown High’s Eagle girls were declared Three Rivers League softball champions because they had the highest win-loss percentage against league schools, going 7-1. Marmaton Valley was 2-7.
The Eagle girls had four All-TRL first team selections in juniors Candice Clayton, Ithaca Marlier and Tiffany Poyner and freshman Taylor Shook.
Marmaton Valley sophomore Jamee McEndree garnered All-TRL first team honors.
Earning league honorable mention were Uniontown sophomore Jessie Camac and freshman Hope Jurgenson and Marmaton Valley sophomore Cheyanne Miller.
State honor
According to The Topeka Capital Journal, Marmaton Valley’s Tom Stinnett is the only area baseball player to earn state honors. Stinnett was named to the Kansas Class 2-1A all-state team as an outfield.
The all-state teams for each classification were selected by the Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches.
