Bearcats hand Titans LCL loss

LE ROY — Southern Coffey County High’s Titans just couldn’t keep up with the visiting Burlingame High Bearcats Friday night.
The Titans trailed 22-20 at halftime but the Bearcats outscored them 24-6 in the third quarter. Southern Coffey County wasn’t able to bounce back from that.
The Titans did scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull to within a touchdown of the the Bearcats. It was 46-40 with just under seven minutes to go in the game.
The Bearcats got a 47-yard touchdown run by their quarterback Austin Masters to seal the win with 1:29 left in the game. Burlingame won the Lyon County League game 54-40.
“We knew Burlingame was a dangerous team but we made way too many mistakes offensively and defensively tonight,” said John Chanley, Titan head coach.
Drew Parrish rushed for 47 yards on 12 carries and scored the first touchdown of the night. It was a nine-yard dash to the end zone with 10:45 left in the first quarter.
Ty Lang would score the first of five touchdowns for the Bearcats on a 65-yard run. Lang would catch touchdown passes of five yards and 20 yards from Masters in the first half.
Southern Coffey County’s quarterback Ben Spencer threw a 19-yard scoring pass to Chyler Ludolph to put the Titans up 12-8. Lang and Masters hooked up for a touchdown pass and Masters ran in the extra point.
Spencer scored on a one-yard run at the 2:46 mark of the second period. Parrish tacked on the two-point conversion. But Lang and Masters combined again to put the Bearcats up 22-20 at halftime.
The scoring fest continued in the second half. Masters had a scoring run of seven yards then Lang returned an interception for 57 yards for a score.
Spencer ripped off a 22-yard touchdown run for the Titans at the 1:41 mark of the third quarter. Lang answered back, going 47 yards to paydirt. The Bearcats were adding two-point conversions following each score.
In the fourth quarter, the Titans rallied when Spencer scored from eight yards out. The SCCH defense held and Spencer connected with Aaron Ludolph for a 24-yard scoring strike than flipped the two-point conversion pass to C. Ludolph.
Then Masters finished the scoring for the final margin.
Spencer was 18 of 36 for 256 yards passing with three interceptions. A Ludolph had six catches for 135 yards and C. Ludolph had five catches for 81 yards.
Travis Bryan had 13 tackles to lead the Titan defense and a fumble recovery. Parrish had 12 tackles and an interception. A. Ludolph, C. Ludolph and Ethan Graham each had 10 tackles.
The Titans are 2-2 in LCL play and overall. They play Madison at home for homecoming next Friday.
