BAK cyclists coming in today

Iolan Terri Anderson made a report from the road as one of about 800 bicyclists making the over 450-mile ride on the 2009 Biking Across Kansas (BAK).
Anderson, a veteran of the BAK, said she and the other riders would start arriving in Humboldt around noon today. Humboldt is ready to welcome the group of riders and support staff for the evening. The riders will stay overnight and enjoy activities planned for them by the Humboldt community.
“The ride has been pretty comfortable so far. We didn’t get caught out in any bad weather,” Anderson told the Register Wednesday morning.
The riders came up old highway 169 from Chanute to Humboldt. Early Friday morning riders will eat breakfast in Humboldt and head out.
They will follow the old highway from Humboldt through Iola to Colony then ride from there to Kincaid, Blue Mound and to Paola, which is the next overnight stop.
Anderson and Gena Clounch, both of Iola, are on the ride as well another area veteran BAK rider, Bill Lamb of Moran.
