Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcats captured a Three Rivers League volleyball win Tuesday.
The Wildcats defeated host Pleasanton 25-22, 25-23. They lost to Oswego 25-18, 25-10.
“It was an ugly win as the girls were having an off night. We struggled with our passing and serving all night,” said Lindsay Johnson, MVHS head coach.
Marmaton Valley got three kills from Tiffany Dudley on the night and two kills from Maggie Meiwes. Cheyanne Miller had two digs and Alysha Westhoff had 11 set assists.
Johnson said Morgan Henry and Lydia Lance had a good serving night. Each one had three ace serves.
Humboldt High’s Lady Cubs had a rough night at Burlington. The Lady Cubs lost 25-14, 25-15 to Parsons. Melissa Davidson had five kills and two ace serves and Amanda Maxton had five set assists.
Burlington beat Humboldt 25-7, 25-15. Davidson had two kills and Maxton had three assists.
“We were short-handed due to illness and we played two very good teams. The girls improved on their serving and movement on the court,” said Stephanie Middleton, Humboldt head coach.
Crest High’s Lady Lancers landed two wins on the road at Chetopa. They beat Chetopa 25-17, 17-25, 25-20 and defeated Altoona-Midway 25-16, 25-20.
On the night, Amanda Strickler had 21 kills and nine ace serves. Ashley Catt had 20 set assists and seven kills plus four ace serves. Melissa Honn had nine kills and eight ace serves. Tessa Louk had 11 kills. Katrina Strickler had two ace serves.
After winning the Hartford Invitational Saturday, Southern Coffey County High’s Lady Titans celebrated senior night Tuesday in their final home playing date. The Lady Titans beat Burlingame 25-14, 25-14 and Waverly 25-16, 25-23 in Lyon County League play.
“Only our seniors played the second set with Waverly. This was their 100th win in their high school careers,” said Korey Lankton, SCCH head coach.
For the night, Kristen Garland had 31 set assists and three serve aces. Laurie Ohl had 17 kills and eight blocks. Shelby Birk had eight kills and five digs against Waverly. Sam Jacob had seven kills in the Burlingame match. Kaitlin Meyer had five digs against Burlingame.
