Allen edges Folk in modified race

HUMBOLDT — Modified racing on dirt might not get much better than what was seen Sunday night at Humboldt Speedway.
John Allen, Justin Folk and Dan Daniels raced right to the wire of the 20-lap feature race. Before telling the finish of the race just a note that the racing was Sunday not Friday as usual.
Rain pushed the week’s racing program at Humboldt Speedway to Sunday evening.

Justin Folk won a closely contested modified heat race with Allen. Folk was out in front early and was staving off challenges by Allen, Daniels and Garry Langworthy Jr..
On the final lap, it was door-to-door between Folk and Allen, Allen and Folk, Folk and Allen.
At the checkered flag it was — Allen by a bumper rail nosing ahead of Folk. Daniels ran third with Langworthy in fourth and Chris Vannoster rounding out the top five in a field of 22 cars.
Levi McGowen did the same thing to Paden Phillips in the B-Mod feature race. McGowen made a late pass of Phillips for the win. Dalton Kirk claimed third place followed by Jimmie Davis and Jim Daniels.
Aaron Murry made his first race this season at the Speedway a good one, winning the street stock feature. Eddie Fox ran second and Chance Knight was third. Jerry Brown placed fourth ahead of Tyler James.
Scott Stuart crossed the finish line first in the factory stock feature race. Jeremy Wilson pushed Stuart to the finish, settling for second. Tiny Joles took third place with Colton Bunn in fourth and Derrek Wilson in fifth.
Humboldt Speedway has two nights of racing planned for Memorial Day weekend. Regular program racing starts at 8 p.m. Friday.
Sunday is the second annual Dewaine Whitworth Memorial featuring a $1,000-to-win modified
race and $500-to-win races for B-Mods and factory stock. Gates open at 5 p.m., racing starts at 7 p.m.
Admission Sundy is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12.
Pit passes are $30.
