ACCC women win at NOC-Enid Classic

ENID, Okla. — Allen County Community College’s women surpassed the total number of wins of last year’s Red Devil women’s team with two over the weekend.
A year ago the ACCC women were 5-26. With victories over Oklahoma Baptist junior varsity and Garden City this weekend, the 2009-2010 Red Devils are 6-3.
“Saturday’s win over Garden City was big for us. Garden City was picked to finish fourth in the Jayhawk West,” said Andy Hamilton, who is in his second season at the helm of the ACCC women.
Allen County defeated Oklahoma Baptist University’s junior varsity 84-65 Friday. Breanna Shaw fired in 30 points, 20 coming in the first half, for the Red Devils.
Dysyan Malone tossed in 18 points and Jazmynn Johnson scored 14 points. Jennifer House, the lone sophomore on the team, added seven.
Maurissa Shaffer scor-ed four and Lacey Thomas had three. Scoring two points each were Kynesha Nisbett, Miranda Mock, Charlsie Bahret and Shayla Clark.
On Saturday, the Red Devils beat Garden City 68-59, led by Shaw’s 17 points and Malone’s 16. Thomas fired in 11 points and Aeriss McNeese had 10 points.
Johnson scored eight. Nisbett and House each had three points.
“We didn’t hit a three-pointer in that game but were in control most of it,” Hamilton said. “The girls played hard the whole game.”
Allen County has this week to prepare for its Jayhawk Eastern Division opener at Johnson County on Dec. 2.
