ACCC track athletes set records

HUTCHINSON — Three school records fell in Allen County Community College’s first meet of the 2009 outdoor track season.
At last weekend’s Hutch-inson Community College Night Relays, Angelica Larrier took third in the 100-meter dash in an ACCC record time of 12.23 seconds. Keythra Richards set an ACCC women’s triple jump mark at 39 feet, 33⁄4 inches in winning.
The ACCC men’s 4x100-meter relay team set a new school record in a winning time of 41.59 seconds. Relay members were Selwyn Tatum, Jonathan Juin, Isiah Young and DeAndre Simmons.
Young won the men’s 100-meter dash in 10.45 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 21.97 seconds.
Tatum was fourth in the 200, 22.62, and Juin was sixth, 22.70.
Carlyle Thompson took the gold medal in the 400-meter dash in 49.42 seconds with teammate Marwin Simmons was seventh at 51.40. Antonio Burnett was 17th in the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 7.27 seconds.
Casey Canada claimed first in the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.98 seconds. Jean Frenot was seventh in 15.62 seconds.
Frenot took fifth, 56.76 seconds, in the 400-meter hurdles and Canada was ninth, 59.63.
In the long jump, M. Simmons was fifth with a leap of 23’93⁄4” and he took ninth in the triple jump, 42’11”. Nicholas Moore placed eighth in the javelin with a throw of 157 feet.
For the ACCC women, Richards was second in the long jump with a distance of 18’61⁄4”. Postenea Louisjeune cleared the high jump bar at 5’3” for second place.
Maresa Cuevas ran fourth in the 1500-meter run in 5:40.26 and Kelsey Wilson was 11th in 6:35.09. Cuevas took 12th in the 800-meter run in 2:41.59 and Wilson was 22nd in 3:08.41.
Amber Girdy placed 11th in the 100 meters in 13.81 seconds and was 12th in the 200-meter dash in 29.49 seconds. In the shot put, Sumayyah Muhammad was 20th with a throw of 25’7” and Chloe Nelson took 21st with a throw of 25’6”.
